Meet Dr. Thomas Hopkins
G&G Anesthesia President and Chief Executive Officer
Dr. Tom Hopkins is a physician change agent who leverages data science tools and medical device technology to improve healthcare at scale through academic, industry, entrepreneurial, and investment activities.
As G&G Anesthesia’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Hopkins combines his clinical and hospital administration background with a keen understanding of the core concepts necessary to build a successful healthcare business. Dr. Hopkins is skilled at cultivating a collaborative culture between G&G Anesthesia providers and our partner hospitals to ensure a seamless transition from strategy to execution while motivating multidisciplinary teams to achieve clinical, financial and research goals.
Dr. Hopkins began his product development and entrepreneurial work during medical school, transitioning a summer research project in the neonatal and pediatric ICUs into two predictive models that were developed into products and successfully integrated into clinical practice before being purchased by Siemens. Craving the opportunity to grow the scope and scale of his impact, he went on to study business administration and clinical informatics at the Fuqua School of Business, while simultaneously working clinically as a resident and fellow at Duke University Hospital. As the Director of Quality Improvement and Medical Director for Care Redesign at Duke Health, Dr. Hopkins managed more than $100 million in novel revenue and cost savings projects while improving patient access and care delivery across this leading health system.
As CEO, Dr. Hopkins leads a dedicated team of anesthesiologists, CRNAs and business administrators who are focused on helping hospitals across the country advance both their patients’ care and their own financial health. Under his guidance, medical facilities are able to offer their communities first-rate anesthesia care to make healthcare more accessible to all.
